A Writer

I am a Writer. I am a Writer first and I'm not sure what comes second. I am tired of being known as an errand-runner, a schlepper of small children, a "good" volunteer, the laundry lady, the sweeper of crumbs and wiper of tables, noses and dirty feet. I do not want the first thing people to think when they see me to be "There's Lisa, E and R's mom," or "There's Lisa, the schools auction chair," or even "Oh look at Lisa, she always wears the cutest clothes."

All of that is icking me out right now. 

I had no idea that once I started thinking of myself as a Writer, I would expect the same of everyone else around me. Pronto. Hop to it. Pick up your own slack. Find your blankie yourself and while you're at it, bring me a cup of coffee.
